The Board of Directors ofthe Chenango County Agricultural Society is very pleased to announce our couple, Jim and Chris Fowlston who will serve as Mr and Mrs Chenango County Fair for our 174th annual event. Fair dates will be August 10-15 and you will find Jim and Chris in our Parade, on the grounds and at the First Aid Building during our events.
Jim and Chris are both lifetime residents of Norwich, New York. They have been married for thirty nine years, have two sons, James Jr. and Andrew Fowlston, and eight grandchildren. Chris was an active member in the City of Norwich Fire Department for ten years and a Charter Member of the Ladies Auxiliary and as a Fire Police Member. She has held various jobs within Chenango County taking care of others and most recently working for Walmart.
Jim has been an active member of the City of Norwich Fire Department for the past twenty eight years. He proudly served as the President of the Norwich Volunteer Fireman's Association for many years as well as Lieutenant and then Captain of the Ontario Hose Company #3. In 2000, Jim was named Fireman of the Year for the City of Norwich and in 2001, he was named Chenango County Firefighter of the Year. He continues to serve the City of Norwich as an Exterior Firefighter, Pump Operator, Driver, Fire Police member and Basic EMT. He has served as a Basic EMT for the past twenty seven years and volunteered countless hours at local events such as the Chenango County Fair, Pumpkin Festival, Colorscape, Bluesfest ,Relay for Life, RAOCC shows and many other events. Jim recently retired after thirty two years with the Chenango County Highway Department where he held the position of Foreman.
Jim and Chris have been at the Fairgrounds for events held there and for many years of the Fair assisting with the Demolition Derby. They were instrumental in the addition of the permanent EMS Building on the North Road and maintaining the scheduling of services for events held on the grounds.
The Board thanks Jim and Chris for their community dedication and assistance and support of the Chenango County Fair. They will serve as our ambassadors for 2021 so make sure you say hello when you see them at the Fair!!
